Suckling Pig, Bali Style



In Ubud, we've enjoyed meals at places like Mozaic and Terazo, but one of the finest offerings is still Ibu Oka's Babi Guling, a really simple warung near the Ubud Palace and Market. My apologies, that close-up shot doesn't even come close to doing it justice. Someone like Chubby Hubby would have come up with an incredibly appetising shot of the meal, but you'll just have to take my word for it. Expect no creature comforts, just squat or sit cross-legged at low tables as you partake of a stupendous combination of crispy skin, tender juicy meat and Balinese vegetables. It's hot, cramped and crowded, but worth every ounce of the discomfort. Enjoy!
